Global Goal Trivia

The 3rd High School of Heraklion participated in the 2024-2025 school year in the “Virtual Business” program of JA Greece with an idea that combines learning and action. Our students founded the virtual company EcoRun and created the board-digital game Global Goal Trivia — 17 Goals, 1 World, through which players learn about the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals in an interactive and enjoyable way.

What is Global Goal Trivia

A knowledge game for students and young people that combines boards & pawns (made and painted by the students themselves) with digital cards/questions. Its innovation is that it connects each thematic question with real Corporate Social Responsibility actions: in this way, players see how goals are turned into action and businesses effectively promote their social work.

The idea was born from the students’ need to combine technology with direct communication and offer an alternative gaming experience, away from the passivity of the screen.

The visual material (board, pawns) is entirely created by the students.

The quiz questions were written by them, after research on the 17 Goals.

The game is played by 2 to 6 players, who answer questions related to the 17 Sustainable Development Goals. For each goal there are three questions, while bonus points give a strategic advantage to the fastest and most informed players. The questions appear after players scan QR codes on the board. The questions are randomly drawn from a dynamic database, ensuring that each game is different and unpredictable. The winner is the one who collects the most points, answering all 17 Goals.

The game stood out, winning the Best Product/Service Promotion Award at the JA Greece Student Fair in Thessaloniki, while it was ranked among the top 10 student businesses nationwide, in the context of the 5th Panhellenic Student Youth Entrepreneurship Competition of Envolve Entrepreneurship.

The school warmly thanks the local organizations and businesses that supported the effort and contributed to the participation in the fair and the further development of the game.
